What is the poll for -- a guess at where our mystery guest used to work?

I for one would be very happy if they don't do anything about losing bots.

[/ QUOTE ]

Why? If they're losing it's likely not at a very high rate and is prob going all to rake.

That is a good point I hadn't thought about. You're right, the money is most likely not going back into the poker economy but rather just into the sites' pockets.

Then again, maybe they do lose enough so that they're contributing to the economy.

A consistently winning player, playing a lot, with somewhat high BB/100h is the same kind of enemy. They suck up money with speed sometimes faster than the site does (on the relative amount of tables), which destroys the ecosystem in some time (I believe you can do the calculation but these calculations and analysis we had done in details). These (real players as well as bots) were under fire. If it’s a bot, it’s killed right away, no issue. If it’s a real player, it’s randomly killed too (relation to fraudulent account etc.). You may again say – not much is heard about this in here, I don’t know the exact reason, I believe fair amount of the top winning players are 2+2iers, but you will actually more often here from killed bots in 2+2 as a way to get it back to the sites than from real players (maybe note also a major difference, if real player is killed, his account money are returned, bots are seized).

[/ QUOTE ]
If any major site were routinely booting players for winning too much it would be common knowledge. Poker players are a gossipy lot and word would spread quickly. Plus there would be frequent threads started by well-known strategy posters who were booted.

There would even be frequent discussion at 2+2 of cover play techniques, multiple accounts, and other countermeasures. We would be just like the blackjack counters swapping tips on avoiding the heat.

None of this is happening. OP's claims about winning players are obviously untrue.

You will all have to decide for yourself how much of the rest of his story is made up. I know what I think .

Here's a real example -- Party Poker once shut my account down when I'd won 13 consecutive SNG's. These were not the little 6ers I'm playing now -- they were 50s 100s and 200s.

[/ QUOTE ]

You said you were using Poker Prophecy which is a player profiling program and was illegal. It should be no suprise that they closed down your account, and them doing so had nothing to do with you winning a certain amount of SNGs in a row.

To OP, this post is [censored]. There's no major poker site that is closing winning player's accounts. Sure massive winners that are bustoing fish are bad for the poker economy. But as said above, if they closed down accounts we would definitely hear about it.

This point got too exaggerated in the thread. If we discuss here, we should first clarify what a big winning account is (and there are a lot of stats and factors here, I will not do that). It is of course not meant people making money. It is not people that still do change their strategy, move up/down limits every third week, looks for fish and when spot one exploit it. Ecosystem does not mean fishes that move all in with 72o. Optimal poker is instable game; small strategic deviations may alter results significantly. If you reach a level of mechanical playing (not botting, bots are known), and you win big consistently, you are killed at some point. That was the case.

My main point is that the site cared for own revenue and the ecosystem. That’s all. The game is fair and the site does not care for bots, does not care for multi-accounting in MTT, and so on. These give no edge by itself. If bots makes money, or breaks even, or even lose a little (in this 3rd case there are again more things to factor in) it’s out. If loses money and helps the ecosystem – it’s fine.

If you have 2 accounts and you think you’re very clever by signing up your grand ma but your mail clients put your PC name or VMWare prefix
…X-Sieve: CMU Sieve / Received: from john-dell-2 (xyz-@[191.27.9.71]) by fwd31.aul.xxx …
in your mails, you’ve practically done. That’s a way to kill nicely a big-winning player. But ways were not always nice. Still no accounts were seized, and this is I can say very much fair, in the light of T&C you sign.

kornman,

No, there are MSNL grinders who just suck money out from all the fishies at a very steady pace.

Settle down cowboy. I said I was using PP and I was -- the HTML version which to this day is not detected I'm sure. So my guess is that yes INDEED that string of wins caused them to red flag me. They ACCUSED me of using PP -- I admitted it to get the account back open. I have no issue with Party Poker or how they handled it. I miss them and love them and want them to come home!
