i think you guys are giving villan a little bit too much credit. a button raise in a 3 handed game? he could easily think we have just about ATC. i dont think his range is limited to just Ax, sets and a straight.

[ QUOTE ]
just sat down in a 3handed game.

i raise the button with AKo and both blinds call.

flop A23r

i biet, they call.

turn Ar

i bet, sb folds, bb c/rs, i....are we 3betting here all day? how do we handle a cap if we don't improve on the river?

[/ QUOTE ]

i thought this was an interesting spot where most people insta-raise, and i typically call. my view is the following: i hate raising when if i get reraised i (a) can never ever fold and (b) likely never ever win. to me this was one of those times.

I agree with you if you meant

"By three betting dont we lose TOO many hands"

There's a pretty significant difference between 'to' and 'too' on this one.
Continuing to induce the betting those times he has 88 or something while losing the least when behind seems alright.

But, like you guys, I've seen enough players go crazy here with A7 or something silly where I'm not quite sure it's worth slowing down.
