J DAgastino pulls weird f-in river play, explain?

John D'Agastino was playing HU 50/100 on Full Tilt against this guy. His SN was genius28 or something like that. Anyway he makes this very strange play and I was wondering if you guys could elucidate his thinking for me.

J. Dag has ~15k and his opponent covers.

Dags raises on the button to 300, Genius reraises to 800, he calls.

Flop ($1600): 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Genius bets $1200 and Dags calls.

Turn ($4000): 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
Genius checks. Dags bets $2500. Genius calls.

River ($9000): A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Genius bets $7500. Dags thinks for a while then shoves all in for about $3000 more. Genius instacalls.

Dags shows 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5-high.

Genius shows A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] for a boat and rakes the $30k pot.

What happened here?

okay didn't think it was that complicated but the hand I posted, I was observing, notice how there's no hole cards shown at the start of the hand. That means it wasn't me.

the explanation is simple; his five high is not going to win a showdown, and he thought his opponent did not have an ace. Obviously, without a spectacular read, genius cannot call this river without an ace. John went with his read. Unfortunately it was wrong.
