Re: Bodog 200 AA spot
Thanks for all the love on my birthday. I said I'd think about folding AQ here, I didn't say I'd actually do it, but I'd be on the fence.
Anyway, Villain makes a pot-sized bet into 3 people, including Bond who raised UTG+1, on a drawy board that is sure to have hit at least one person, which looks like a huge hand to me. Bond then raises on the same board, with 2 people yet to act behind him. From Villain's perspective, Bond has a huge hand here, I'd say Bond's range is {set, overpair, TPTK}. Villain calls, and then shoves when a card that easily could have hit Bond hits on the turn. What is Villain doing here, hoping Bond has an overpair and hoping to get him to lay it down? If Bond had AQ, except in the unlikely scenario Villain has the case Q and Bond has him outkicked, I'd say AQ was in trouble. Or Villain has no clue what he's doing. |

Re: Bodog 200 AA spot
Wow, folding AQ would be beyond terrible, not close @ all. Villain is rarely full. The bulk of his range when you hold AQ and this goes down, is draws/retarded stuff.

Re: Bodog 200 AA spot
Why is villain shoving a Q here?
If Bond is unknown to villain he's checking a Q here like... always. |

Re: Bodog 200 AA spot
This is close because a lot of unknowns have no conccept of position. They have tp on the flop so they bet. They turn three of a kind they bet. With AQ I would debate whether to fist pump or yell ship the moniez fish.

Re: Bodog 200 AA spot
depends on who the player is although it could easily be the case that folding AQ is ok here against the right person

Re: Bodog 200 AA spot
I don't think you could ever fold AQ here because:
1) People like when they have trips because three of a kind is a pretty good hand; 2) People LOVE to bluff on paired boards; People are generally poor and think little of the concepts of relative hand value; about turning showdown value into a bluff; about what is the best line to take to extract value when ahead; about position; about how differing stack depths should alter what they do in certain situations; about what you might have and what you could reasonably stack off with; And of course, all of the above means that you are ahead with AA here much more than think you could be - or you should be. |
