I moved and the new city I'm in is all Clearchannel [censored], so I'll segue this thread into any recommendations for internet radio stations. I badly, badly miss CD 101, which was just a stellar radio station. But if I'm going to have to be in front of a computer, maybe there's a better one to listen to? [/ QUOTE ] CD101 has a webcast don't they? they used to at least WOXY is like another version of CD101, they play some mainstream stuff and some stuff you wouldn't hear on clear channel soma.fm indie pop rocks station is more indie WFMU from NYC is more free form but they have some awesome stuff if you like a wide range (i'm talking like John Cage experimental and world music type wide range) those are my 4 regular webcast stations (well, 3 right now since i'm in columbus so i can listen to cd101 on the radio) on another note i'm surprised i haven't heard any love for the new Caribou album in this thread. especially from all the Animal Collective lovers. the first track on the cd is just awesome. i think if i were trying to get anyone into Animal Collective I would give them this slightly poppier, more accessible album first. |

I think this song 'Can't Tell Me Nothing' on Graduation is really awesome.

Yeah, Melody Day is sweetness. I get to see AC for the first time at the end of the month. I don't think I've ever anticipated a show so much.

Beirut's music has been mentioned here a little bit, and I thought I would mention that Beirut's new album The Flying Club Cup is pretty good, and I would definitely recommend it to any Beirut fans.
Also, for any fans of Booka Shade or the DJ Kicks series, the DJ Kicks by Booka Shade is really good and my favorite since Erlend Oye's. |

MW -
Ty for the HU on the Booka Shade mix. I like it. I was expecting it to be a little more electro but it's still v. good. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/articl...k-mix-02-diplo I guess I'll pimp Pitchfork some more for those that don't read it regularly. They're coming out with monthly(?) series of mixes; this month's is by Diplo, a producer from Philly. He claims he produced a lot of Kala, M.I.A. claims he didn't. Whatever. It's no Girl Talk but it's decent mash up. http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/articl...-mix-01-optimo Last month's mix, a much better mix by Optimo. "PFS 001 is a gleeful mix of Scottish undergound tunes, psych-rock anthems, UK pop-toppers, prog-rock epics, and Sonic Youth." Very good stuff, esp for those who like electronic mixes as opposed to mashups. |

Yeah I really liked the Optimo mix. I love what those guys do, though-- How to Kill the DJ Part 2 is one of my favorite mixes (especially since the 2nd disc has so many amazing songs).
Just got the Diplo one, gonna listen to it. Gonna look for the Booka Shade DJ Kicks, too. Really liked the Kanye on first listen. Gonna listen more. Just over a week until Austin City Limits. Who's going? |
