Default San Diego Dining

I just moved to San Diego for school about two weeks ago, and my girlfriend came down this weekend to see me. My parents told me they would buy us a nice dinner while she is down here. The cap is probably about $150 for the two of us. Any type of cuisine goes as long as it is good.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good restaurant we can get reservations for by tomorrow?

You're not willing to kick in any money of your own? Even here in Nashville, there's a big difference between what two people can get for $150 total and $250 total. I'd imagine that's even more the case in a bigger city.

I can't really kick in any of my own because I my dad told me to use a credit card. I guess theoretically if they place could put $150 on the card I would be completely willing to put in some extra.

One of the best meals I ever had was at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. It was about 10 years ago; and I'd imagine it will be more than $150 per couple.

well, san diego is really expensive. that is un-get-overable. try the gaslamp quarter. lots of different stuff to try. maybe good sonora-style food w/ a nice wine would meet your limit. also, lots of thai and viet namese food here. you have to look. the gaslamp has carriage rides and some good night life. just expect to go those extra bucks................b

Most places are fine with putting X dollars on a card and taking cash for the remainder. I would suggest going up to La Jolla or Solana Beach for seafood, there are some nice romantic choices up there.

I go to SDSU, and most of the fantastic places require reservations but there are plenty of very nice, somewhat romantic restaurants in Little Italy in downtown or, as others have said head up to La Jolla where there are a lot of very nice restaurants and beautiful views of the sunset etc. Have a good time.

I'd recommend El Agave, on the edge of Old Town:

The outdoor deck is nice.

Try one of their many moles.

Edit: Oops, I just noticed that this is to be just you and your GF. In that case, if your primary focus in on romantic atmosphere, then you go to Top of the Cove in La Jolla:

Still, El Agave is the more memorable (and, I would think for anyone in college, more relaxed) restaurant.
