What are your thoughts on scaling concussion recovery times based on the importance of the game?

For example, while it is in the player's best interest to be taken out of a regular season game if he might have a concussion, many players would be willing to risk their careers if it's in the Super Bowl.

This is probably why the NFL will never do anything about these issues. Why would they? They make enough money and have high enough ratings, but I think they NFL should be warry of it.

Problems with the article

1. The league is in the wrong here, but it doesn't affect the onfield product or whether or not someone will watch football.

2. Yes injuries are a problem, but they happen in every job he's looking at a few isolated examples and trying to show that it is representative of the whole.

3. Players get arrested in every sport, this isn't football specific

4. Interestingly enough steroids could prevent the second problem he mentioned. besides nobody cares about it unless it's baseball.

5. There's overexposure but people keep watching it all it seems like this is just simple supply and demand.

6- Ya there was a bad superbowl there were a bunch of other good games. Besides nobody was expecting it be that close the spread was 7.5 that doesn't really suggest that people are expecting a close game.

I think that the only concern should be the long term health of the player. If the doctor says that playing presents an undue risk of creating long term health problems, then that player should not play. Period.

When dealing with brain injuries, the consequences extend well beyond the player's career. Since players will almost always say that they are willing to play regardless of the consequences, the decision should be taken out of their hands.
