Default AK in a straddled pot LIVE Deep Stacks

Blinds are .25/.50 with a $1 live straddle. UTG+1 raises to 2.50 (very LAG tricky player who doesn't need to have a hand and most likely doesn't). Folds to me in middle position with A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and I raise to 7.50. Button cold calls (Loose calling station, effective stack is about 55 which I cover). His calling range is very large but I put him on a pocket pair (8s through Qs) or a big ace. Original raiser folds so 2 to the flop.

Flop 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Pot (19.25)

I bet 15 and he thinks for about a minute and finally pushes for a little over 30. I call. Thoughts on how I played the hand??

when people pause to think a while and then raise, they usually have a very good hand...

it doesnt matter how good his hand might be, we have 2 overs plus nut fd getting better than 4-1!!! we're getting odds to call even if he has a set which is worst case. nice hand

Perfect, especially if the straddler's an habitual straddler. I really doubt you're looking at 77s or 55s or 22s here. If he's that short-stacked and thinks for a while, I doubt he's that strong. I wouldn't be surprised to see something like A-7, 66, 99-JJ, maybe QQ at the best. Maybe an 8-6 if he's that loose. I'd beat him into the pot with a call

You're a 55% favorite over QQ so this is easy.

This isn't deep stacks, and it's incredibly standard. Well played OP. Sucks that he had 55?

As for the deep stacks part of the post most of the players at the table were deepstacked including myself. I guess it didn't have any effect on this particular hand though just giving the details of the game.
