Here's the thing. Limit sucks. Because you can so easily limit how much you lose on a hand, it is hard to lose a lot of money if you simply play decent starting hands. In No Limit you can't limit how much you lose on a hand as easily so you can't limit your losses.

And "you" means "the fish you want to get your money from." It's a hell of a lot easier to make money at no limit.

Plus there's the fact that limit sucks.

Pretty sure you've got this backwards. I think most LHE-to-NL-converts here would tell you that their variance is actually LESS after they switched to NL.

I think he was talking about the fish, who do lose money quicker at NL than limit. Also, variance in NL is higher than at limit; the reason that winning players prefer NL (and experience less severe downswings) is that their edge in NL is significantly greater than in limit. Thus, a lot of variance in NL is absorbed in the "winning, but less than I should have" variety.

If only you guys were in at pokerroom.com when they first allowed real money games...they only had FL games but I played the 10-20 there for about 8 months before I noticed more than 1 other player at my table who knew poker at all. I was winning $600 pots with ace high at some points, it was crazy. I really was totally new at poker and only knew the basics and was making thousands a day sometimes. That came to an end and because i still wasen't that good I gave a lot of it back, but boy those days were fun.
