Default NFL Most Valuable Positions

I was just reading this article
http://www.slate.com/id/2173817
And while it's final conclusion of
Quarterback
Center
Offensive tackle
Safety
Defensive tackle
Middle linebacker
Running back
Offensive guard
Rush end/linebacker
Wide receiver/receiving tight end
Kicker
Punter
Cornerback
Fullback
Blocking tight end

Is really wrong since Safety shouldn't be >>>> CB.
If protecting your QB is so important attacking the other QB should also be imperative so DE should be higher.
Centre> Tackle is really wrong.
His "recieving TE" position is should be renamed Elite TE so it suffers from selction bias.
Kicker and Punter are too high because the best kickers aren't that much more valuable than the worst.
Obviously a lot of this stuff is system dependent, but in general what positions are most valuable?

ROFL @ CB ranking.

Also of note is their is a difference between most valuable position, and most worthwhile investments. This hurts RB and DT's value alot from a GM's perspective.

Considering the injury risks, I think I would rank the positions something like this:

QB
OT
CB
DE
DT
WR
RB
OG
LB
C
S
TE

I am probably wrong, just doing this off the top of my head.

Hmmm, I don't know about the whole center above tackle thing. Maybe the factor in the fact that a lot of centers control the blocking schemes for the rest of the line ala Olin Kruetz.

The list in the OP is terrible. We did this last year if someone wants to dig up the link. It's more like:

QB
LT

CB
RB
WR

RT
DE
DT
TE
C
G

MLB
S

K
P

If you watch teams with terrible centers who get manhandled, you will come to the conclusion that having a great center is terribly important to victory.

What's more important is not to have any glaring weaknesses that an opponent can exploit.

Someone should at least remind the Bears the QB is still #1.

Don't know how many decades they are going to go without thinking they need more than just a random QB.

Fink's list is pretty spot on to me. Though I have C higher and RT= with Guards.

One way of looking at it is seeing how college programs give out scholarships. QB is obviously #1 but LT is prolly right after that its most talented.

Yeah I put center too low. I also just put MLB and left off OLB for whatever brainfart reason. So revised list....

QB
LT

CB
RB
WR

C
DE
DT
TE
RT
G

MLB
S
OLB

K
