Default Re: continuation bets

I think too many players are aware of weak continuation bets. Like if I raise with AK from the button and the BB calls... flop is J 7 2, he leads with a half pot bet, I'm likely to 3 bet him and represent a big pair. If he really hit TP, usually he'll bet more than just half the pot to protect his vulnerable hand, and if he just bets half the pot he's basically asking me "do you have aces?".

It seems to me that small to mid size continuation bets are usually useless anymore unless it is to purposely look weak. Too many players have read Harrington's books. 3/4 pot on the flop or raising the turn are much more effective imo.

Fol, probably. Depending on Villains stack and range and aggression that might change.

Fold. What the hell do you beat? I mean, trying to pick off check/raise bluffs with A high is pretty bad idea IMO.

Especially in the mid-late stages of tournaments, be aware of who at the table loves to fold to cbets. There are always players like this at lower stakes who will call PF (almost never 3bet) and fold to cbets 80%+ of the time. Find these players and abuse them. Then if you find players who really like to call or raise cbets don't cbet into them as often. I cbet too often, especially early on, but in the later stages it's villain dependent.

Fine. Put him on a reasonable range for check/raising. Figure your equity and then decide if it is a call or a fold.
