Default Variance: I still play at AP

I'm sure I'm not teh only one.

I like their guaranteed low level MTT's. I doubt Seif is using his superuser account to cheat me at a $10 donkament.

Talk me out of it.

As you say, the chances of you personally being cheated at $10 tournaments are pretty low . . . however, the main reason why you wouldn't want to do this is in case there is a 'run' on AP, i.e. lots of people start withdrawing money because of the scandal, as more people withdraw, more and more people hear about it, lose confidence in AP and start withdrawing themselves . . . AP see all the money leaving, decide to pull the plug and freeze all withdrawals - bye bye bankroll.
Also, there's something a bit retarded about being the type of consumer who continues to do business with a company that you know is corrupt.

I had $25 on there Tuesday night, bought in at a 50NL table to practice mulitabling away from my usual site and tripled my AP roll. I think I might drop down to $25NL since I have 3 buyins, but if it goes busto, WHO CARES? The money's probably no good anyway! And I will have gotten some practice in w/ one more table than I usually play.

This is money that they gave me, I probably won't be depositing there anytime soon.

Good points, but...

There hasn't been any noticable change in traffic even though teh story made front page headlines. Most players are probably blissfully unaware.

Also, I'm not convinced that the "company" is corrupt just because one or two executives cheated some customers. Even at a company with prolific internal scandals, i.e. Enron, most employees have decent ethics and thought everything was on the up and up. I doubt AP's scandal goes beyond the 2 employees/officials, but I may reconsider if the investigation comes back differently.

I'm sure there are 1 or 2 employees at each competitors' site who would cheat, if they could. It doesn't make the whole company bad. Cheating will always be one of the biggest issues with online poker and it is vigilant players like those in the 2+2 community that keep both players and companies honest.

To be fair, I think you're probably right that the chances of them going busto seem to be pretty slim now, unless some even bigger scandal surfaces, since as you say the majority of their clientele don't know / don't care about the recent scandal, but it is a small risk so I guess if your bankroll is very big you might not want to risk it.

Some portion of every dollar you pay in rake is going to Mark Seif, because he secretly owns AP.

Because you are generating money for a company that are known cheats.

It doesn't matter if you are being cheated, it's called standing up for your fellow players and not giving money back to the thieves.

Though if everyone is getting refunded, then f'em. Play it up.
