If you're checking that turn, get ready to make a tough decision on the river. Better option is to bet the turn and check behind on river if both players are still around.
If you had bet the turn and the passive SB still bets into you on the river, then fold is usually OK.

Not necessarily, but the reason that you should've been checking behind on the turn was to call a bet on a non-diamond river. Granted I wouldn't be ecstatic about overcalling. But there were a lot of draws out there on the flop and the two callers definitely do not necessarily have aces. That's still a tough call to make and I don't think anyone will fault you for folding.

Bet the flop and turn to protect your hand. You may not have the best hand but you still need to. Plus it allows you to check behind on the river (or fold to a river bet) so you end up betting the same amount of money anyway.

Only time I would consider checking the turn is with real tight unimaginative TAG's infront of me, but these aren't.

From what? You cannot protect your hand on this board. If you bet, it is to not give worse-than-infinite (but still correct) odds to diamonds. I fold to a C/R and call a non-diamond river. Probably go limp and check behind if there is no bet. Not sure if that's best or not.
