While I am a cosplaya 4 life, Welsh Corgis are the [censored] without Cowboy Bebop. They are smart, great around people and look at their cute legs. LOOK I TELL YOU.

More serious answer:

Look at the space that you have, and think about the time you are going to devote to walking/exercising and training. Working dogs, like collies need a ton of exercise, at least a couple of hours per day. Labs, spaniels, and active dogs like Terriers and Jack Russells are similiar in their need for space to run frequently.

With an apartment, and a real life, you are probably looking for one of the more docile and smaller breeds, beagles, dachshunds, bulldogs. (I'm partial to the latter as I own two...)

No self respecting man owns a lap dog or designer dog.

Beagle

They are a leash dog however(IE you can't let them outside with out one) They are tons of fun and they aren't huge. If you plan to play with your dog all the time then they are perfect they always want to have fun.

all your dogs are obsolete ....... i present you the Flatcoated Retriever

and then they grow to something like this:

Since your appartment is not 'that' big i'd reccomend taking a female one, the males can get a bit 'wild' if not properly trained.

The coolest part is that if u buy a good one, you probably have a dog with more names than you. (ours is called something like Charles Burning Flash Mystic Highland Park)

there's plenty of 'authorized' dealers around the world, so it shouldnt be hard to find an exact one near you ^^

I have a bulldog, great dog for the apartment, he'll sleep alot, and he's not going to destroy everything.

One downside, he does snore.

hold old is the dog at the back?

I have a 6 year old female bulldog and I do agree 100% that they are the greatest dogs ever. Here is a pic of my dog:

What someone needs to remember about a bulldog besides the initial price tag ($1500 + from a reputable breeder) is that they take a tremendous amount of care. They have a ton of health problems related to the breed and there is daily upkeep which must be done. Alot of these things also do become very expensive. I would not recommend a bulldog to anyone who is not willing/able to put forth the effort and money necessary and anyone considering this type of dog needs to be educated regarding it. For all of these negatives though, they are easily the greatest dog breed known to man because their personality and looks.

Some decent selection here so far. I am a huge fan of bull terriers but you will be living in the city, and they are really hyper.

I am in a similar situation as the OP. I live downtwon Chicago, in an condo, that is not that much bigger. I would in no way buy a small dog, so I looked around at what I thought would work well. Answer.....Dobermans.

They are semi chill dogs, that dont get too hyper. They are VERY easy to train, and are one of the smartest dogs. Ours is very loyal, and will follow our orders very well. On top of being a great dog, they look [censored] bad ass.
