Don't fold the river yo, good odds and it's kinda a monsters under the bed spot to fold to a shorty. He could be trying to bluff you off a chop or think he's valuebetting vs QQ or some [censored].

I have never liked calling the turn with the intention of folding the river when not on a draw. It just feels wrong to me.

Agreed. You are already committed vs. a shorty on this type of board, so don't f around. It's not a great spot, but you'll be good here way more than you seem to think.
