Wait till the overnight news hit the markets...China thinking of selling off $500b of the estimated $1trillion in US reserves....GG USA for many many years if that happens hence the $1.10 vs CND$ overnight.

Yeah, if you think "free" means paying taxes for healthcare even if you never get sick.

Yes, and If I get diagnosed with cancer I dont have to pay for the expensive chemotherapy. Its not "free" in the sense that we pay for the health care with our taxes, but it doesnt cost me any money to go to the emergency room, to go get a check-up, etc..

Also, if you do some research on federal income tax rates in Canada and the US you will find that its not a huge difference.

p.s. Im Canadian....and I better not catch you guys coming up here and using american funny money in our washing and vending machines :P

I would rather pay that to the government as taxes than as premiums and deductibles to some record-profit-making-rich-ass-HMO who will try to [censored] me in the ass every chance they get.

When I needed surgery in Canada, I went to emerg, got seen by a surgeon within 30min, and had surgery an hour later. I was treated great for the week in recovery and never had to pay a cent the whole time.

Slightly higher income tax is worth it if you don't ever have to worry about being wiped out financially by a serious illness.

uhhh, don't worry, last time this the dollar dropped this low, America pulled the mad cow disease card (which had been around for ages), and the euro almost instantly fell back down.
