Looks like Silvestre will be missing the rest of ManU's season: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_2734351,00.html, They're looking pretty thin at left back without Heinze now.

silvestre doesn't really play defense anyway

Several sources confirm it.

It has been in the air for a while, but I still have to say I'm shocked it came so soon. How do the Chelsea fans feel about it?

I'll miss his antics. He made Chelsea the club everyone loved to hate. Who is going to play the archvillain now? Back to old Fergie?

Any guesses where Chelsea ends up? I wouldn't be surprised if they don't qualify for CL. Interesting to see who comes and goes in January.

I guess Guus Hiddink will be favourite to take over - but probably not for a few months yet.

big mistake is too light of a word to be honest. This is a disasterous mistake IMO. It's very hard to find managers that can keep all of those players together, and he is probably one of the best tacticians under 50.

I honestly believe that chelsea will now have a hard time winning the league because of this. He was the right manager for them, and unless Chelsea get someone like Lippi, I don't see how any but very few would be a major step down from him
