Re: USA today story on bots, poker and money laundering
They will purchase and publish articles if you want to send them something. I have no idea how to do it, but it is common in print media.

Re: USA today story on bots, poker and money laundering
Maybe we have someone at 2p2 who brokers articles? Im not sure the technical term, but we could put together a collection and try to market them.

[ QUOTE ]
Absolutely hideous and everyone involved should be embarrassed. The worst I've ever read. Good thing the writing is so poor that no one will actually read the whole thing, or understand it. Just one message--online poker bad. [/ QUOTE ] Well put. I get the USA Today for the Sports section, but I've noticed that the rest of their paper is total fluff and puff, and usually poorly written, but this takes the cake. Seeing how USA Today appears to be against online poker, I'm pleased that this article is indecipherable. |

Re: USA today story on bots, poker and money laundering
This is a really good chance to strike back at a news orginization that has been taking swipes at us. Here is some quick contact info for people we should email at USA today about this story. I think we should be able to make some noise, because this is an inaccurate, poorly researched and horribly written story. I think we should write to these people and really give them hell. This is a national newspaper and be held to some kind of standard.

Re: USA today story on bots, poker and money laundering
The founder of USAToday, AL Neuharth, is much mroe sympathetic than the current editorial board. This is from his weekly column on Fridays. http://www.usatoday.com/printedition...2/al02.art.htm
Try as I might I can't find any direct contact info on him. I think he may be a good ear to whisper in if we want to hold the current board to account. Maybe Im blind and can't find his personal email. Anyone able to find it? |

USAToday is an anti-gambling paper. The editorial board has advocated for a long time a freeze on the expansion of gambling in the US. Keep that in mind when you read gambling related articles. [/ QUOTE ] Nah, just one more hypocritical poser. LINK |

Re: USA today story on bots, poker and money laundering
My favorite part was how 1 in 20 to 1 in 50 of the computers in the world are bots, compared to 1 in 200 a year ago. I think that's Pulitzer Prize winning stuff that the author managed to track that info down. Must have been hard too, considering the money laundering bots that are taking over the world are programed not to respond to chat requests.

Re: USA today story on bots, poker and money laundering
I think you guys are reading too much into this story. The article isn't referring to bots that player poker, rather bots that money dump. Money dumping from stolen credit cards is prevalent, and has increased with the passage of the UIEGA.
The article sounds much worse to someone who understands poker. |

[/ QUOTE ] As a 20-year veteran of the newspaper business, including a five-year stint at USAT, I can tell you that they do not purchase articles. That's very rare in the newspaper biz. You're confusing it with magazines. Your best bet is to write a letter to the editor. |
