Re: Let\'s all write to MSM and blogs
Thanks for filling me in on the importance of this race.
Some interesting reads on this: Democrat Steve Beshear leads Republican incumbent Gov. Ernie Fletcher by 18 points in a new poll commissioned by The Lane Report, a Lexington-based business magazine One-On-One: 'Gaming Will Benefit the State From an Economic Standpoint' |

Re: Let\'s all write to MSM and blogs
There is a huge difference in Letters to the Editor, and Editorial Opinion. It is hard to reach people with good infomration. Lets face it, a LOT of voters have zero exposure to positive media about gaming. One story a week that didn't paint remote gaming as evil could change the ladnscape dramatically. There isnt a pervasive up and down opposition to remote gaming among median voters. But decision makers, FoF, and establishment donors and lobbyists hate us. THey have papers, radio shows, circulars, newsletters, and phone operators to get the word out. All we have in the Internet. I hope the letters go well, but we need to get them to run an Opinion piece written by one of us. Hell even put a link to here on it, or a new website if we ever get one up.

Re: 2007 Kentucky Governor’s Race – Awesome opportunity for us!!!
The media seem interested in pro-gaming letters and op-eds. I had letters published in three big papers this week. Hopefully a few of will write....even out-of-staters can write of liberty and positive experiences. Also, we need pro-gaming groups like PPA to issue press releases endorsing at least the right of citizens to vote on the issue.
We'll be much stronger next year if we get this one in Nov., but only if we get on the record with our position. |

In case anyone had any questions about Fletcher, check out his new commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EBzVJ_sP...s%2Findex%2Easp
Also, he replied to my letter. As one would imagine, his reply put even Kyl to shame. |

I guess I am going to have to vote for Ernie Fletcher after hearing a segment with him on WHAS radio on Thursday. He cited all the dangers of having casinos in Kentucky and let us know that casinos cause abortions. Even the normal soft-ball lobbing Terry Meiners (WHAS afternoon host) seemed to have problems letting that assertion stand. Incredible stuff. Les |

Re: 2007 Kentucky Governor’s Race – Awesome opportunity for us!!!
I'm from Lexington, go to UK, and have already voted for Beshear once, will do it again, and am looking forward to doing so again.
Beshear will, barring something really damned dramatic, will win easily. Therefore, they may be more pressing needs for our donations. That being said, I'm going to send this to the Herald-Leader. Any thoughts? -BEGIN- The debate about gambling in Kentucky has not focused on the most important issue involved. Much of the discussion has been about the economic benefits for the Commonwealth (which are numerous), the clamoring about crime increases (which are unproven), and the claim that gambling corrupts our children (which is baseless). But instead of focusing on these issues, we should instead be focusing on a more fundamental issue: freedom. Freedom in this country means that we have the ability to make our own decisions about the way we conduct our lives. And if I decide that I want to gamble with my money that I have legally and legitimately earned, I should have the right to do so. And when the governor of my state says tells me that I can't, because he believes gambling is somehow immoral, I am forced to conclude that he doesn't value freedom as highly as he values telling others what they can and can't do. I, on the other hand, do believe in freedom. I believe that our tremendous freedoms are what make the United States the greatest country in the world. That's why I'm looking forward to voting for Steve Beshear in November. He is a man who cares as much about personal freedom for Kentuckians as I do. Under his administration, Kentuckians will be able to enjoy the freedoms they deserve. |

Great letter! I wish you the best getting it published. Most of the papers have been actively seeking input from both sides, so you should be fine. In fact, you may want to send it to a few papers in the state.

It's not mine...I'm glad people are writing. I think we'll really make a statement in Nov. On that topic, let's all check and make sure we're registered to vote. Then, let's get our buddies registered. And, let's keep writing to KY media. We want to take credit for the victory, after all. |
