Villian raises 18% preflop. Barring some unpredictable trickiness (reads?), he repops preflop with mosts overpairs to this board. His holdings are drawy, light and funky often enough to call profitably here, reevaluating on 4th, and shoving on many blanks

[/ QUOTE ]

How isn't a set right in his range? He's not lead/3-betting one pair.

Yep. A set is most of his range unless our hero has been re-raising a lot recently or villain is tilty. Without some other mitigating factors our reverse implied odds blow and we should be folding this most of the time.

as others have said. this raise sucks unless it's purpose was to goad him into three-betting light.

repeat after me:

"He is not messing with me. He's playing his own game as i'm playing mine. I now must fold."

on this hand villain had AT .. and i was villain..

i don't really know what my opponent had but i think he had at least a pair cuz he timed down and folded.

i was just wondering what the general perception of this play was from. figured the best way to evaluate objectively was to switch around the players to see what hands can actually call the raise...

now what do you guys think of the play from my perspective?

I really like folding here. It's a tough spot no doubt about it. I think other posters are right. If you didn't have a plan for him 3 betting you should call the flop bet. I don't really see what you are beating here.

[/ QUOTE ]

i bet/3bet overs here a lot vs ppl that frequently raise my donk bets (most tags these days do). My above advice only fits if hero frequently raises donkbets. If not, its an obvoius fold.

this was the situation and my read in the hand exactly.. i had AT and led out to steal.. but when he raised with XX to 42.. i thought he was just restealing the hand ..

this play is pretty good with up/down straight draw as well as sets obviously
