Default Matt Hasselbeck vs. Phil Simms

Please help settle an argument. Who is the better QB? Hasselbeck or Simms?

By "better" we mean the better all-around QB in a vacuum, not which one played for better teams with better defenses.

In a vacuum, who would you rather have out on the field in a random game with a randomly put-together-team if you wanted to win the game? Matt Hasselbeck or Simms in his prime?

And is it close?

It has to be close. Without looking up stats & stuff I'd probably say that the Hasselbeck of the last few years has been a slightly better player. He hasn't really been 'good' for that long though where as Simms was solid for a long time so it comes down to how much you value longevity. I would say Simms personally unless Hasselbeck grinds out 3-4 more years at a high level.

Fair enough, but that doesn't mean one cannot attempt to take the opposing viewpoint and construct a good argument.

Incidentally, I'm a huge Giants fan and grew up adoring them in the 80s and 90s.

Simms, and it's not even close.
Read some of the comment Bill Walsh had said about Simms and how much they wanted him over Montana (and then after their careers were over how he thought Simms would have done just as well as Montana in his system).

Also what defensive players have said about Simms toughness. Not a knock on Hasselbeck, but he doesn't compare there.

Football fans have been arguing about this for ages. I don't think we'll every arrive at a conclusion to the Hasselbeck-Simms debate

Hasselbeck is far less of a douche than Phil Simms, at least.

Hasselbeck is also a huge pussy.

He is still complaining to the media about E.J. Hendersons "hit" on him, (in reality his teamate Mack Strong blocked/pushed Henderson into Hasselbeck's leg). Hasselbeck calls the hit "dirty" and still thinks it is.

“I’m sure he didn’t try to put me out for a long period of time — but they didn’t want me to finish the game, either,” Hasselbeck said.

You dont need to see the video to know that it was an accident and his own teamate caused it, but if u really wanna see it go to nfl.com > Videos > Search: Seahawks Vikings > First Video at 1:23 (link didnt work).
