KK slow down on the river?
Early on, no reads.
.02/.04 Pokerstars Heros has K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in SB Preflop: Folded to CO CO raises Hero reraises BB caps CO calls Flop: (13 sb) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Hero bets, BB folds, CO calls Turn: (7.5 bb) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets, CO calls River: (9.5 bb) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero? I bet here -- but in retrospect, I'm not sure this is too smart. Pokerstove says I'm 30% against: 99+, ATs+, KQs, QJs, ATo+, KQo, QJo and 17% against: TT+,ATs+,KQs,QJs,AJo+,KQo Check/crying call? |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
Worst river possible. You said it, check/crying call.
I suppose bet/fold is a better line, but check/call I can make a note on what CO will raise from the CO, whether it was a steal or not, and how long he'll continue with it, for the same 1BB. If I'm going to spend 1BB no matter what, I'd much rather take the read. I also get the read if he checks behind with his pair of jacks, costing me nothing. And sometimes you just may win. To me, especially early in a session, where the guy is going to be in the CO when you are in the SB for the remainder, knowing what he is raising is invaluable. If he had AK, then it wasn't exactly a steal-raise. If he has A6os, then I know he's raising any ace from that position and will act accordingly in the future. |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
Do people really steal-raise (or do it effectively) at .02/.04?

I would c/c. What does he have that he would call with if you bet? A c/c gives him a chance bluff and lets you see the river cheaper if he does have the A or better. |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
I'm not familiar with the limit, but you're not beating anything Villain should call with. So I guess you can bet if he'll call with pocket 6's or something, but most likely you're screwed whether you bet-fold or check-call.
By the way, BB's play in this hand pretty much has to be awful. Edit: I decided that what I said about check-folding was wrong. So I deleted it. I don't like that option anymore. Villain doesn't have to know he's beat if he's got a pocket underpair until that river card comes, and he might bet that or a busted flush draw out of desperation. |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
c/c and hope he shows you KQ of diamonds. Expect to see the ace though.
He could just be calling down with overcards. It only has to happen 1 time in 10 right? |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
I disagree with the check/call advice.
If he has an A, he will bet and you loose money. Ig he has a smaller pair, he will check you don't earn money. So bet/fold this. This will cost the same when behind, but you will earn 1BB when ahead. |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
I disagree. I think when you bet and are ahead you won't get the call for that extra BB. I personally think you are more likely to induce a bluff from a missed draw than to get one to call you.
I don't hate b/f, but I prefer c/c. |

Re: KK slow down on the river?
Awful river. It seems very possible he was just chasing his A and got lucky. He certainly could have a lower pair though. I can't see folding it, especially at those levels. People will hang in there without much hope because they're just learning and the money factor isn't an issue. I think you'll easily win this 1 out of 10 times so I'd say check and call.
