Oh, sorry, I was getting ahead of myself: I was assuming he made a call on the flop.

I think you have to bet the hand after re-raising, and if he calls, I think you need to bet most turns. You're quite right that he doesn't have to have anything at all on the flop.

If you "haven't 3-bet him the whole session", 3-betting KK out of the SB is about the worst possible place to start. If he does have AA and 4-bets you, you'll be completely dominated and when he doesn't, you're still about exactly where he puts you (a big pair). And you're OOP to boot.

As played, just pot the flop. You've got 5 outs to the nuts and there's a pretty decent chance that this flop missed him. Obviously fold to any raise and if he calls and you want a turn plan, we need the turn card.

Maybe I should have specified this but villain knows I will 3bet with a fairly wide range. Plus, for the first time in 3betting an opponent, your saying I should only do it with a rundown hand and not a good AAxx or KKxx?

Just saying that as 3-betting hands go, rundowns and AA are >>> KK at this stack size. Occasionally, double-suited kings are OK against a light raiser or something, but if you're not 3-betting much (which was the impression I got from that quote), you definitely don't want to have KK in that range.
