Re: \"Bonds reportedly preparing to sue Schilling\" - Yahoo!
[ QUOTE ]
The key part you're missing is that the issue is that Schilling asserted as fact that Bonds admitted to taking steroids, among other things, which he didn't. Kind of like how you originally asserted that Bonds admitted as much was fact, when it isn't. [/ QUOTE ] Then in that case, the case will hinge, at least partly, on whether Bonds' testimony to the grean jury constitutes an admission of steroid use. Which, of course, is what we spent 500 posts arguing about in the other thread. So like I said, could be interesting. |

Bonds is a poser or he would have sued Canseco years ago. [/ QUOTE ] Canseco gave a first-hand account of several ballplayers, but even said he had no first-hand knowledge regarding Bonds....only that he believed him to be an obvious user based on what he saw when he looked at him. That's not libelous. Clemens, McGwire, Tejada, Giambi, Palmeiro, those guys would have a case against Canseco....unless of course his accusations are true. Seeing as Giambi has admitted as much, and Palmeiro was found in violation of the steroid policy....it'd be impossible for them. McGwire and Clemens...I dunno...you'd have to ask them. |

Then in that case, the case will hinge, at least partly, on whether Bonds' testimony to the grean jury constitutes an admission of steroid use. [/ QUOTE ] Less than a week ago, the authors who wrote the book and originally leaked the grand jury testimony themselves said that Bonds refused to admit using steroids, despite convincing evidence otherwise that they believe he did. Considering they are the source of the testimony, and they themselves readily put forth that he did not admit using steroids, combined with the federal government pursuing perjury charges because they think he lied when he *didn't* admit using steroids.....it's pretty much a consensus from all those involved that Bonds has never admitted steroid use. EDIT: I'd also like to see Schilling attempt to enter illegally obtained, thrid or fourth hand accounts of sealed grand jury testimony into evidence in a civil defamation case. |

Re: \"Bonds reportedly preparing to sue Schilling\" - Yahoo!
uhh...im pretty sure this has nothing to do about steroids, but the "lied on his taxes" part, because he can actually prove that.
carry on though, another bonds steroid thread should be a lot of fun. |
