Default Money Gram Wants $36

Seeing how E-Passport was such a hassle, expensive and unreliable, I looked into a cash transfer with MoneyGram.

I read in some other threads where it only costs $10. Every place I checked including MoneyGram (800.926.9400) wants $36 for a $500 transfer, which is enough to get the full Stars bonus.

Can anyone shed any light on this? I've never done either, and I'm not paying $36 "juice." $10 I'll go for, if I can figure out a way to do it.

Thanks

Is your fee is to do transfer over internet?
To get $10 fee, go to Moneygram website, do a search for locations near where you live and bring cash for deposit.
For Pokerstars deposit instructions, click the cash transfer button and print out instrcutions.
Good luck.

I did a MoneyGram this morning about 5 hours ago and it was $9.95 on $500. It was also $9.95 on a $600 deposit I made on the last Stars bonus.

He's probably trying to do it by cc which is certainly much more expensive.

I have used Western Union on Stars before and the fee has been drastically different depending on the country you are sending the money to. My experience has been that Stars has at least two destinations and that one of them has a higher fee. It could be that MoneyGram is similar.

OK, I've got it figured out. The cost is $9.95. It's $36 to transfer to a private party. When you click on the money transfer option at Stars cashier and then click on submit they'll send you a "receive code." Once MoneyGram has that code they'll know it's the lower price.

So, $9.95 isn't too bad, and it's fairly quick. He said MoneyGram is a 24/7 operation, but because you're sending to a business it might be better to wait until Monday afternoon rather than over the weekend, but since Stars is a 24/7 business it might go through right away.

Most Albertson's stores have a MoneyGram phone by the way.
