I need it to be fast (be able to run msn, AIM, party poker 4-8 tables, HUD, tracker while importing hands, internet explorer, and music. without lag.)

LOL, my amd 2500 with a gig of ram runs all this stuff fine, so you won't have a problem with what you picked out. What do you have right now?

The monitor will work in either clone mode or as an extended desktop. I have no idea why dell support said it would only work as a clone.

The Gateway® NX860XL looks like a nice laptop for you.

1499 if you choose no extended warranty, no MS office, and no bluetooth mouse that they have autochecked for you.

17" monitor at 1920 x 1200

Thinking about getting one myself now.
