Re: Red Rock rake rises
They will lose a handful of players, and the games will be better for it.

Re: Red Rock rake rises
Stopped by Red Rock this afternoon to play a little O8. Cringed when I saw the rake and left a while later. That's my last trip there.
Binions has a $4/8 O8 game with a $2 rake and $2 per hour of comps. As long as that game goes, I'm there. |

Re: Red Rock rake rises
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Let me explain something here. Splain it to ya. The execs in charge of poker in las vegas are almost entirely total idiots. Therefore whatever the stupidest and worst for poker possible decision is, that's the one they usually make. Now let me ask you a question. How much is a coke at disneyland? Soft drinks are surprisingly expensive there. And if disneyland had the choice of charging $4 or $5 for said coke, which option do you think they will take? Al [/ QUOTE ] Big difference, Disney has a monopoly on drinks sold inside their park, very few people will leave to get food/drinks once they are inside unless they are leaving for the day. People can decide to play/stay elsewhere for poker. [/ QUOTE ] I agree totally, with a clarifier. One player I know who meets people at redrock every week has already decided to go elsewhere. Some of this player's friends have 200,000 points, one in excess of a million. These dollars will go elsewhere, but no one will be able to show this happening with their little accounting spreadsheets, so it will be ignored. The problem is that the ripple effect (i.e. Collusion, illegal but we all know it's commonplace anyway) will go thru vegas till all the rooms are like this. Thus the casinos will pat themselves on the back (even tho they screwed themselves) and the poker players will just be screwed. Al |

Al [/ QUOTE ] Things to consider: 1) The casinos think they are getting screwed by poker players right now 2) Generally Vegas has the best rake ratio in the nation. While I agree the RR raise sucks, lets keep things in perspective - we have had it too good for a long time, I'm actually surprised many casinos didn't try this earlier! |

If enough players complained verbally to the casino AND promised not to play then they might deem the experiment a failure. |

Do you really think that someone with over a million points at Stations acquired them all just on trips to meet your friend for poker? Or that he'll stop going there to gamble because of this? 2. Why do you think that the casino can't track the overall bottom-line impact of players who stopped coming (including the impact of their slot and tables play). |
