btw you can live in North County (which is about 40 minutes (no traffic obv)) away from Downtown and San Diego proper, I guess, and still consider yourself living in San Diego. North county includes Poway, Escondido, etc

Obv the closer you get to the coast, the more money you're going to blow. La Jolla, Del Mar, etc are sick as hell but ridiculously expensive.

Hmm I will definitely look into North County. I am not dead-set on the San Diego zip code or anything, I just like the weather in the immediate area (and one of my best friends lives there). La Jolla and Del Mar are way out since I haven't won the lotto yet, lol.

Incidentally, is Craigslist above, below or right at average for ability to find cheap places in your opinion? It's all I've used but I'm sure it's fairly limited...

IggyWH just moved from Pittsburgh to San Diego IIRC. There was a thread about it awhile back.

San Diego rules. Everything about it is awesome, but the traffic blows.

Re: Craigslist. It's pretty average. UCSD had an off-campus housing website that we used but it's limited to students only, sorry.

North County is pretty nice. And definitely cheaper than anywhere near San Diego proper. If you want to be hella ghetto you could go to East County but if you played GTA San Andreas, remember the backwoods area where everyone drove the pickup trucks and you used the harvester to (iirc) mow down the weed farm?

That is, I swear to god, a 1:1 reproduction of San Diego's East County

PB is nice, and online SUPERSTAR pbdrunks is from there. Pacific Beach is where all the old burnouts and college (and post-college) students are. It's a ton of fun but I wouldn't particularly want to live there (although that's because the bar-crawl thing isn't really my scene. Nice to visit but I wouldn't want to plant myself there full time).

RE: Living in Mexico. If I was life busto I would seriously consider it. http://sandiego.craigslist.org/roo/326048429.html $350/mo for rent + all utilities? You can't live in bumf**k kansas for that much a month. Plus you are less than 30 minutes away from downtown SD. Plus it comes with bottled water lolol
