Default Vegas $2-4 Limit

Hi all,

I am new here (lurking for a few months), and I just have a few questions on vegas $2-$4 limit. I live in Oklahoma, which has gotten poker rooms in the last couple of years, so I am kinda new at poker. My questions are:

I play $3-$6 here in Oklahoma, and it is full of fish (maybe 5 or 6 at a table, I can read the whole table down in usually a orbit). Is that the way (I know different rooms, different people) the $2-$4 and $3-$6 is in vegas?

Also I can pull a profit (from $1 to $100) 8 out 10 times here, is that the same in vegas?

I play tight yet aggresive, and I am very patient, and I usually know if I have the best hand (will show cards at show down if I know I have the best hand). And that leads to my next question, should I play $4-$8 in vegas and skip the $2-$4 and $3-$6?

I have pulled about $900 (at $3-6, $4-$8) here in Oklahoma in about 40 Hours of play in the last few months, I play limit online and am also up. My main question is what I am playing here in Oklahoma a ($3-$6 oklahoma game = to the $2-$4 Vegas Game or a $3-$6 vegas game or should I play higher (need some motivation we don't have any higher here in Oklahoma)

Thanks,

Isuxs

it's all fish up to even 15/30

I haven't played the 30/60 yet, but I imagine it'll be fishy also.

just go with good table selection and you'll find the players are brutal

A 2-4 limit game will be filled with 'tards. So will a 3-6, 4-8, 6-12, or 8-16 game. Probably higher. Play as high as some semblance of bankroll management allows.

You have run awfully well to overcome the rake at anything below 8-16, but I admittedly don't play a ton of limit HE. Others may know better. I very much doubt you should count on maintaining your $1K per 40 hours at the limits you play. That is an unrealistic winrate for anyone over a decent amount of hands.

So, if you are asking this question as a segueway into making a living playing low-limit LHE, then the answer is no. I couldn't imagine trying to make anything that resembled an income playing LHE below a 15-30 or 20-40.

Thanks, I know there is no way I can make a living playing low limits, I have checked several sites that rate poker rooms, I am going to vegas to have fun and play some poker and for some reason that dang $2-$4 limit makes me think that it is equal to the $3-$6 (lowest and the main game here), but $2- $4 would be like 1cent 2 cent online and hard to fold, I just wanted to make sure the $3-$6 is not much tougher (like if a $5-$10 ever started here), kinda hard to explain, but seems like I should be all right in Vegas, I really appreicaite the answers, and if I can help anyone out, just let me know.. Thanks again, great forum!

Don't mean to hijack isuxs' post, but Arbitrage, is the Bellagio 15-30 really that easy? I've played 2-4 and 4-8 before there with some success, but have been studying extremly hard for months now and feel I have greatly improved my Limit game. I'm a TAG. My next trip to Vegas (At XMas most likely), I was wanting to play some higher limit, like 15/30, or the 20/40 game at Mirage. Would you recommend the Bellagio 15/30? How often is it spread there? What about the 30/60 there? Thanks

Serious post from a player who started at 3/6, and has been a winner at all limits, including 4/8, 6/12, 8/16, and now 20/40 (and never had a losing session at a 15/30 game in Vegas).

2/4 is the lowest of the low. I go to that game to get drunk out of my mind, and cap preflop in the dark with 2 other friends when we are all sitting in the row.

If you can beat up to 4/8, I would start at the 4/8 game at Bellagio. Since it is their lowest limit game, it is also the fishiest 4/8 game in town. If you feel this game is easy by your standards, try the 8/16 games at Wynn or Bellagio, take $400 and take a shot with it.

Do not listen to people who are telling you to jump into the 15/30 games. While it is very beatable, there is a lot of strategy that helps beat those games that you haven't yet learned playing only up to 4/8. People who are like "waaaa, 30/60 is easy" are just trying to inflate their own egos. Take your time and move up the limits slowly. No need to risk your money in an uncomfortable situation. Stick with 4/8 to start out, and move up or down as you feel.

Good luck!

QFT.

I've only played the Bellagio 15/30 once or twice, but imo, there is a discernable difference between 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, and 15/30 in Vegas. If what you're after is to win money, I suggest avoiding 2/4. It's usually got a lot of rank beginners and people that flat out don't know how to play. The beginers always seem to have outrageous luck, and the others don't want to fold. Add all that up and you're peddling uphill most of the time.

I'd say the 15-30 at bellagio is a better game than the 8-16. Half the time Ive played the 8-16 its been a nit fest and half the time a donkfest. If you wanna take a shot, I'd say bellagio 15-30 on a weekend. Their is always at least one 15 game going and the 8 usually starts around noon.

Continue to play you're TAG game. But just remember, that at this level there are more people capable of folding top pair. So you can get creative.

Only played the 30 a couple times when I saw the game was good (from the rail). But its supposed to be considerably tougher than 15.
