Default Almost embarrassed to ask this PotLimit question

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I was recently watching a PL WSOP event on ESPN (a NL event I think), the blinds were $15k/$30k. In one hand the pot was $265,000, and someone raised $300k to $565K. How could they raise more than the pot?

in a pot limit game, you can call a bet and then raise the pot

for example, if the pot is 100 and someone bets 30, you can bet 160 (call the 30 dollar bet and then bet the pot)

Although PLHE questions are relatively rare, this comes up enough (sometimes as, "Do I understand how to calculate the max raise?") that it should be in the FAQ.

Not that anyone would read it there; it just makes me happy to have it in the FAQ.
