Bet flop as two-way semibluffbet sometimes and stop people catching runner runner quads

yeah i bet this flop maybe 50% of the time - you have the best draw and very often get action from lower sets

must bet the flop, you want to know how many people want to play.

Half the pot is fine, you just want to see how many callers you get for info.

You dont like the turn so a check-call is fine,
on the river your action is OK because a lot of people wont believe you have top set because you checked the flop giving a free card to lots of draws.
the SB allin might be a bluff because he is "sure" you dont have QQ

With top set on a board like this which likely touched almost everyone and their dog, is making people fold more important than controlling pot size?

The problem I've been having with taking a stab at this type of flop with this type of hand from early position is that it inflates the pot bigger. If I don't improve on the turn and I continue betting my bet size increases and sometimes I get raised/check-raised and blown out of the pot with a raise to a huge number (and killing my implied odds).

If I check the turn and someone fires out 3/4-pot to full-pot (of the inflated pot), I probably can't call that either, unless it goes multiway.

Of course, trying to control pot size from early position is tough enough.

I'm kind of all over the place with this response. This hand is another chapter in why I hate being OOP in PLO. It gives me nightmares.

So, as BadBenObi suggests, firing $3-$4 on the flop would help here?

I agree with your points above chucky. I think you played it fine. There were 7 people seeing the flop. If there were less people I'd consider betting the flop, but w/ 7, no way.

with 7 its better to bet.

if you get raised you can make a big reraise, makes the hand easy to play and you cant be wrong.

also if the turn is a blank or the board pairs you are in a great position, and you have built a bigger pot.

And if you get a few callers and a scare card hits you still have top set, its not so bad.
