I've said it all season, he's our weakest bullpen member, you don't need someone like him on a playoff roster

Batters would change based on whether or not Tavares is available, but Jeff Baker should not make the trip regardless

I don't think you can take Tavares now, even if he's available -- he hasn't faced live pitching in ages, and I don't think you can spare a spot for a dedicated pinch runner. But I think you *can* take Smith -- the dude's 5-8 as a pinch hitter.

Anyway, they're sending Cook and Hirsh to Arizona Instructional during the NLDS, to see if they can be ready in time for a potential NLCS. Why not send Taveras down there, too? If one of those arms can be capable, I'd substitute them for Morales on the NLCS roster. I think he's got huge upside, but I don't think he's ready for this stage, yet (and should probably start '08 in AAA).

The RMN or MLB.com was saying that the Rockies were considering taking Seth Smith to the NLDS. I really don't think we're able to use September call-ups but maybe I'm wrong.

I just remember the K-Rod wierdness from 2002 where they had to make some excuse to use him

You can take September callups, if someone who was active on September 1st goes on the DL afterwards. There's like 1-for-1 correlation. That was how K-Rod made it on.

Anyway, it was nice to be right, for once. GO ROCKIES!
