Default Chicago cigar question and Hollywood Casino Auroa IL

Are there any really cool cigar shops downtown? We are doing the bus tour tourist thing and I would like to checkout a really large or really cool cigar shop. xpost in travel.

Wayne's World! Party Time! Excellent!
LOL, sorry couldn't resist. We arrived in Chicago this afternoon and the retards at the front desk of our hotel told us the Grand Victoria in Elgin, IL had Texas Holdem Poker, EEHHH!Wrong answer. So after fighting traffic and payng tolls, we weren't turning back now, next stop Hollywood Casino in Aurora, IL.

Poker room has six tables, two tables of $5-10, two tables of $10-20 Limit holdem and two empty. Floor says they won't open any other games because IL only allows them 1200 gambling posistions and they needed them outin thepits. They had a sign saying they were going to spread NL on Sundays starting September 9th.

Played $5-10 three hours and won $6.

Friday night seafood buffet was merely average and not very big. There beer battered Cod was just like the frozen ones from the supermarket freezer.

About ten years ago the Chicago Tribune ran a story about a famous Cigar store in the south loop. Cigars were hand made in the store. Michael Jordan & Mike Ditka were regular customers. I not sure if it is still in business. Steamboatin you should of went to Majestic Star and played poker in a good game and could of asked Mike Ditka where the best cigar stores are.

We are staying near O'Hare and didn't want to tackle downtown traffic.

Do you have his cellphone number?

LOL, I am planning to stop by either Masjestic Star or Resorts on the way home Sunday. Which one spreads O/8?

Resorts O8 starts between 10AM and 1PM and is 5-10. Majestic O8 starts between 4PM and 7PM and is 3-6. However, both of these games only go on Saturdays. And Resorts is only 15 minutes further than Aurora if you had taken I-294 and it is well worth it.

I’m off to Four Winds now. I have always enjoyed reading your posts on southern Indiana casinos. I will try to make it out Sunday to MJ2 or Resorts

Made it home safe and sound rolled in about 1 AM Monday morning.

I like Majestic Star. I was only there an hour but the dealers were very competent. I didn't ask about the rake or comps because I don't get up that way very often and wasn't sticking around long enough for it to matter. The $3-6 game was really good. It played with a full kill.

On another note; fat boys from small towns have no business driving in downtown Chicago. Didn't wreck or get a ticket but the Mrs stomped a hole on the passenger side floor board trying to hit the brakes.

PS: Your exits are weird and either the street designers or the guy that drew our map was on crack.

There is a great cigar store called Iwan Ries on Wabash in the middle of the Loop. (I forget the exact address, maybe just South of Madison, but it is in 411.) Second floor walk-up stoore, very big selection. (I buy cigars there, even though I can buy Cuban cigars in Costa Rica.)

If you are going to be a bit further North, try UpDown Tobacco on North Wells.

Both stores provide mail order online service .... which saves sales tax if you are outside Illinois.

If you buy online, you buy from JR Cigar, unless it's one of the brands they don't carry, in which case I usually order from Famous Smoke Shop.
