Romantic things to do in Vegas...

Thought I'd follow up on my own post. I had decided to make the trip the following:

Fly to Vegas in the afternoon. Go to a decent restaurant and explore the new sights that weren't there last time we were in Vegas (e.g., the Wynn and the new Caesar's Palace expansion).

Next day is all day at the spa for the wife (while I'm in the poker room). In the evening, go to a nice restaurant in the Venetian (leaning towards Valentinos), followed by Phantom (also at the Venetian).

Next day is more exploring until our flight leaves.

Sounds good, except one thing--our last trip to Vegas was the exact same. Different show (Mystere at TI), different restaurant (Delmonicos), different season (summer instead of winter) but the same basic idea.

So I'm just bumping this to hopefully get more ideas. It's basically the age old idea of dinner and a show, coupled with a trip to Vegas without the kid. But I get the feeling she'll also realize this is the same trip to Vegas we took two years ago.

Alize window is great, have done a couple times. The Dover sole on the menu is ridiculously good btw, and I dont generally order Dover sole. I had to try it there becasue I was wondering what the hell a $75 dollar dover sole could taste like, it did not dissapoint.....

Ideas:

Join her at the spa for a couples massage. Then she can spend the rest of the day there, and you can head out for some poker.

Do the helicopter ride AZK and Emporer mentioned earlier in the thread. I have not, but my brother and his wife did recently and they loved it.

Go to Agent Provocateur and do some shopping with her. Or if it's more your style, get her a gift certificate and tell her to surprise you.

Rent a convertible. Get yourself a bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and a bucket of ice. Drive to the roof of a parking garage with a good view of the Strip and enjoy the lights.

Renew your wedding vows. Do it fancy at the Venetian, or if you're into kitschy fun, get Elvis involved.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but Lake Las Vegas is very nice. And different. A couple of casinos, a few fine restaurants, and a very nice lake for a romantic walk. It's also about 10 degrees cooler there I think.

Don't know if the time has already passed, or if anyone else has mentioned this so far:

Yes, Cirque shows are awesome. I've seen Ka and Reve.

Reve, I saw on the most recent trip, and it had a more "romantic" mood, and options to it.

Reve, at the Wynn, has a VIP package. It gives you plush seating, a bottle of champagne, and strawberries (1 chocolate dipped 1 not, per person). The markup for VIP is something paltry like $35/seat more than normal seats. You also get video monitors for "behind the scenes angles" (mostly aerial views and under water views), and a waitress.

So, if I was planning a romantic night, it would probably be:

1) Dinner at either Bouchon, or someplace at the Wynn, maybe someplace else, who knows.
2) VIP package at Reve
3) Use VIP pass, given to you when you buy/pick up VIP tickets, to skip seating line at Parasol Down, at the Wynn, have a drink or two and watch the fountain show at the Wynn.

If you wanted other activities or more than a day, or whatever, consider a spa package or at least a massage.

For lower key, (not that I think AZK needs lower key), consider a decent dinner (say Bouchon, instead of a Wynn restaurant), the Bellagio fountains, and then Chocolates from the Wynn chocolate shop, back in your room (which should obviously have a hot tub).

Thanks for the heads up but she came about 3 weeks ago and I've already left vegas...I probably haven't eaten better in a weekend...

We ate at okada friday night after she landed pretty good sushi but later on in the week I ate at shintaro and the toro there is un-[censored]-believable, saturday was room service (wynn has mediocre omeletes but pretty sweet eggs benedict). Picasso at bellagio saturday night. This meal was sweet, fixed price, each of us got kobe beef filet, ridiculous appetizers, nice ambiance, table right next to fountains, most expensive dinner I've ever had other than losing CC roulette at craftsteak the night before for 7 of us. Sunday was brunch at tableau I was kinda disappointed but it was ok...I was expecting better food but it really wasn't bad, just expensive...I have no problem spending ridiculous amounts of money on food but this wasn't worth it. We ate dinner at Tao in venetian sunday night, this place was delicious, had some sushi as an appetizer and then a beef fondue thing for the main course with a side of veggies.... As for activities, we mostly just walked around and shopped a little bit, went to the arcade at circus circus for skeeball, saw Love, gambled a little bit....the wynn rooms are really [censored] nice.

I did this on my last visit. The Mrs loved it, it takes an afternoon and is painless and you get a limo to the airport. 100% must do IMO
