They never called the team the Kissimmee Astros (unless perhaps there was a team in the rookie-level Gulf Coast League at some point).

In the Florida State League they were originally the Osceola Astros.
Later they changed their name to the Kissimmee Cobras.
Now they don't even exist.
Their last season in the Florida State League was 2000 I believe (might have been 1999).


Also - The Macon Whoopie was a low-level minor-league hockey team. I don't believe there was ever a baseball team with that name.

Friend of mine had a fantasy baseball team called the Joanie Loves Chachi's.


I thought the Albuquerque Isotopes name was pretty dumb.
Lots of people in the city were pretty bothered by it and they had some significant PR problems and decreased season-ticket sales because of it (their old-school "traditional" name was the Albuquerque Dukes).

Actually, some in the Mason, GA community didn't appreciate the fun that was being poked via their hockey team's name either.
