bought some new irons 2 weeks ago, never got them fitted...

i bought some new taylor made rac-os irons from a very well known golf shop in town. being the newbie that i am i was totally unaware of fitting/customizing. i love the irons, my game has already improved drastically. i called the shop and they said that they can still set the lie angle for me for free. how important is this? also, does the fact that i have a bad swing and plan on getting lessons soon affect the 'lie angle'? would appreciate any input. thanks. fwiw im 5'8" and bought regular flex irons.
