I agree with OP because I'm also too thick to understand Sklansky and feel kinda bad about it.

Little Green Book rocks my world though. (I'm series).

Hm. I really like SSH and TOP both are soo good, theory&practise was rather dissapointing and didnt help my game that much.
I guess i agree to 50% with op, you get the point for NLHTAP it really doesnt help you to play NLHE imo. But you cant say that for all "sklansky books"!

I was trying to tell a friend last night that NLHETAP helped the way I thought about NLHE, moreso than the way I played. He looked at me like I was drunk and deservedly so I guess, b/c I kinda' was.

My point was that it helped shape a lot of my thinking away from the table. Obviously by thinking away from the table, it would affect the way you actually play...but, oh dammit, I'm gonna' talk myself into a circle again.

Basically, a lot of books just outright say, "this is a check-raise spot" (e.g. SSHE), but NLHETAP got me thinking way more about maximizing EV than just stating "do this."

And don't get me wrong, SSHE is greatness, but a lot of limit poker is about winning/protecting the pot. NL is a different animal. While this concept can still obviously apply, it's a much more ferocious beast due to stack sizes.

Well, I wasn't counting SSH as a "Sklansky book", I was counting that as a Miller book.
