Default Winstar TR--Very Short

This won't be a long report and I don't have the memory for detail that some writers have and really only remember a couple of my winning hands.

I went to visit friends, a couple, in Dallas and we drove up to Thackerville, OK to the Winstar casino. They have a nice poker room, but on a Wednesday night it wasn't super busy, but we, the husband of the couple and I, had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated. There were 5 1/2 limit and 3 4/8 limit tables, and eventually they got a 5/10 no limit table going. I think there were other spreads, too, but I was mostly interested in 4/8 limit.

I bought in for $200, but in the end I could have just done $100 and still would have came out ahead. Not by much, but I'm happy to report that I did make $63 dollars without rebuys. That, of course isn't going to be impressive to anyone here, but I'm very happy that I was able to do that in a casino environment.

At the Winstar they have chip deliverers and, at least at my table, to keep the play going, a player would "loan" you a stack of chips until yours were delivered, so a guy beside me did it for me and when he had to rebuy I did it for him, and it was done between others at the table, too.

Player styles? No one was particularly aggressive, loose or tight. A couple of times I raised on the river and got whatever players in the hand to fold even tho I didn't have that powerful a hand, I think at one time I had a pair of sevens by the river that players folded to. No one displayed any extreme donkish plays, no bizarre suck-outs or anything like that. But I think the players here would have found, at least my table, very soft.

My best hands that I remember: 8s over 9s FH, quad 6s, Jack high spade flush and maybe another flush hand. I think I misplayed pocket kings and wound up folding them, and went no where with AQ and AJ. In playing 4/8 limit in Vegas the first time I was of the "it's only 4 chips to see the flop" mindset, but not this time. I folded plenty of hands, quite a few there for a while.

Aside from me, only 2 other players never re-bought, one tight, passive player and this little Vietnamese guy who would play for a while, then get up and go play out on the main casino floor, then come back to our table. And would never pay his missed blinds. Strangest thing I've ever seen. They both had pretty healthy stacks, tho.

The room allowed food and the casino had just gotten a beer license, but no wine or hard liquor. If one didn't drink beer they had "malted beverages". Both food and drink cost. No smoking in the poker room, but allowed in the casino. And it was amusing that there a "no firearms" sticker on the front door.

So, that's my first TR. I hope it isn't a tl;dr.

There's no 1/2 limit, it's no limit.
