Re: 2007 MLB HOF Voting Poll
In addition to a few others mentioned, I voted for Dawson and Murphy.
This is based purely on my faulty memory of them as great players for a few years. I have no idea whether they accumulated enough numbers over the long-term to merit inclusion. The only people I voted for without hesitation were Gossage, Gwynn, and Ripken. I also suspect that Trammel or Blyleven belong, but I would need to look to confirm. My memory is that Blyleven pitched on some pretty bad teams for a while, so his numbers might be unfair viewed in a vacuum. |

Andre Dawson Dave Parker Harold Baines Darrell Evans Dwight Evans Steve Garvey Al Oliver Don Mattingly Jon Olerud Dale Murphy and a bunch of other guys that look the same. |

Here's my ballot: 1. Cal Ripken, Jr. 2. Tony Gwynn 3. Goose Gossage - no reason Sutter should be in and him not. 4. Alan Trammell - it's a travesty he and Whitaker won't be ale to go in together 5. Bert Blyleven - It's a joke that he's not in 6. Mark McGwire - controversial pick... [/ QUOTE ] Same, minus Trammell. I could be convinced on him though. |

Two people didn't vote for Gwynn? [/ QUOTE ] It takes all kinds... Gwynn and Ripken will get well over 90% of the votes. The question is whether McGwire gets his 75%, and if he doesn't, how far away will he be from it? I think he'll get around 65%. There are plenty of voters who may think he deserves a trip to the HOF, but not on the first ballot. Personally, I hope he doesn't get in. I voted for Blyleven, Dawson, Gwynn, and Ripken. |

Re: 2007 MLB HOF Voting Poll
If you hand me a Hall of Fame ballot, it better have Pete Rose's name on it or all I'm doing with it is wiping my ass.
