"(I will definitely play 2 events: October 14 and 15, when the "varsity" is over at the WPT at the Bellagio so that I will be up against the "JV", plus some of the FullTilt pros who are skipping the WPT.)"

yes oliver, i'm sure gordon, bloch, lederer, and ferguson will all rush to binions to play in a $300 tournament. in fact i heard they might head up the night before to catch the 2am, $20 rebuy at the plaza.

The last time I played a TV tournament prior to the WSOP was the $1060 buy-in NPL (Event 3, INHD TV Episode 7) at Caesars, where I was up against Full Tilt pros Andy Bloch, Perry Friedman (whom I busted), and Richard Brodie, as well as the rest of the "JV" that targeted the NPL tourney knowing full well that the "varsity" was over at the WPT event at Mandalay Bay.

I turned a $240 satellite parlay into $14K, not counting the sponsorship fee I got from TiltWare for wearing the "FullTiltPoker.NET" logo.

I'll let the audience decide whether that was good deal for me or not.

As far as poker in East Asia goes, there's definitely plenty of room for growth. In Macau recently I figured I could find a game for sure in one of its many casinos and walked out stunned by the bizzare Asian gambling atmosphere instead (with an INSANE number of baccarat tables). I think the influx of western casinos, notably the MGM/Grand that will be finished soon, will create a more American-style atmosphere. Give them a year or two to get their gambling industry up to par and I'm sure their involvement in various outlets of the poker industry will develop, giving the poker boom more fuel yet.

TV will be the key.

WPT will air in Macau and Singapore starting 2007.

WSOP is currently NOT airing in the Chinese-speaking markets because of a contract dispute between ESPN, Inc. and ESPN STAR Sports Limited (ESS), which operates all ESPN-branded networks in Asia except in Japan and the Middle East.

ESS is managed by ESPN's arch enemy News Corporation Limited (NewsCorp), which is chaired by none other than Rupert Murdoch.

Wow, you are awesome.

WTF has this got to do with whether poker is dying?

I must congratulate you, however, on your first post since January 24, 2006 that didn't mention China. Maybe there is hope for you yet.
