Cleveland looks awfully high up, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad if you are going to to run with a rigid system.

[/ QUOTE ]

Psssh, plus the Chiefs are waaaaay too low.

Giants 16?

[/ QUOTE ]

Their loss to Minnesota gives IND, CIN, CHI, JAC, and TB beatpaths over them. They can really jump up with a win over KC.

Browns have played a decently tough schedule for a team that was 4-12 last year. games against Pittsburgh, cinncinati, Indy and jacksonvill were all tough, as well as a rivalry game against baltimore in the first week of the season with a new HC, NEW QB, NEW D-line, new O-line and a new RB. They have played tough against some good teams in indy and jacksonville and split their 8 games against mediocre/bad opponents- they are a slightly below average team- which is right where the rankings have them.

New York, NY (AP)- A seven-year old boy was at the center of a New York courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible.

The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him.

After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.

After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the New York Jets, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.

I don't know why I waited so long before I read this thread. This ranking system has a fantastic philosophy, and it gives good results. If it works in college football, I think the BCS should us it.

I agree it's very good. Of course, even the creator says it's inferior to other subjective methods.

It might be hard to use this for College Football because of the sheer number of teams..

That ranking system is actually pretty reasonable especially as objective power ranking systems go. Nice.

[/ QUOTE ]

I like it, but I have 2 questions:

1) Does it give more weight to recent wins (doesn't seem like it)

2) How can I use this to beat the sportsbooks?

Admittedly, these 2 questions aren't really what the ranking system is trying to do, but rather it's just trying to make heads or tails of how good a team actually is. Good thing the NFL actually has playoffs.

I heard that one a few weeks back because I go to IU, but in any case great joke.
