Default TPMK

both villians are new to me. this is an online mid stakes game. on the whole the game is usually good, with a nice mixture of LAG's and LP's to feed off of.

this is a pretty basic 'i have TP' hand but i want to check in with others.

CO opens, SB calls, I call with K :spades: J :hearts:

flop is

K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ten [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB checks and i lead as i think its the best thing to do here.

CO raises, SB calls two, i call

turn is 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

SB checks, I check, CO bets, SB calls, I call

river is 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

checked to CO who bets, SB folds, I call

The only debatable street here is the flop. I don't think betting out is horrible, but I prefer a check/raise here. Your hand is likely best, and CO is almost certain to bet. IMO if you bet out in spots like this you become too easy to read. That said, betting out has some merit, as a CO raise will force out SB if he has a hand like a gutshot or third pair. Still, I think check/raising is the best play here just because it gets the most value out of top pair, and it's good for meta-game strategy as well.

Just my opinion...

i was thinking at the time that a worse hand raises for me a decent % of the time, allowing me to protect my hand against draws in the SB. however, in retrospect a check raise probably would have been best.
