I don't have any math to back it up, but I'd guess he's got to be shoving like 70-80% to make an overshove good...which obv is totally possible. So I guess it's read dependent.

You gotta love these kind of spots, do you throw up before or after? This buy-in is way out of my league but here's my .05 cents. Excellent timing on this post, just finished a draft of a new spreadsheet, let’s see if it helps me here…

Trader has to be on a wide range 33+,A2s+,K2s+,Q2s+,J7s+,T9s,A2o+,K3o+,Q6o+,J7o+,T9 o
You are only slightly behind. SB can't get involved with BB lightly and you still can hurt BB.

I'm not sure about the logic of this but let's pretend that you own trader's stack for a total of 1785, would you push that over top of SB & BB? I'd go with Q8o is good enough, so final vote is I'm pushing...

If you lay this down and BB takes out shorty, it's not like the clouds disappear. Seems like this is a place to make a stand, but reads might override all of this.

I'm not excited about it but I shove. We would have shoved w/out shorty so now there's a little more overlay. We're also not going to just float ITM.

well there is 1100 ish in the pot. ur hand vs his range is probably 45%. so basically 1110 * .45 == .... umm 500 ish. so id play it like the blinds are roughly 170/340 so id shove for sure. saying the BB is getting odds is stupid because you would be pushing if the other guy didnt anyways. so shove

I think the fact that you have two big stacks yet to act makes this a fold. Both blinds should be aware that you might be making a play because you are getting desperate. I suppose if they are extremely tight and shorty is shoving a huge range, maybe over pushing might be ok, but Q9 doesn't seem good enough to me in this spot.

Hippo,

Your math is off dude. You normally win 750 by picking up the blinds and antes. If you have 50% equity, you win

(750 + 435 + 435)*50% - 435 = t375

When no one calls your shove.

Edit - I'd fold. Some real rough math seems to show that folding is at worst +0.7% or so.

Against a give-up pusher/crap pusher with no FE player (especially if he just lost his stack in previous hand, etc.), with these stacks, I think pushing is fine, and probably optimal. Math is hard though. So many "depends on ___." Against this particular player, I think overpushing might be correct even if he had more chips. But you probably have to be there to have a better feel of that.

I fold here, mainly because of the overcall potential, I could be wrong but they are getting very good odds against probably two wide ranges...i fold this one, tough spot
