Re: Facebook turns down $750M acquisition offer
Publo,
You are just restating Evan's point in more detail. My point is that the revenue/earnings growth implied by the stock price is not the main reason why the stock is at that price. |

[ QUOTE ]
For all you "take the 750 Million" people. Why? Aside from some terrorists destroying the internet the worst thing that can happen is he enjoys the ridiculus ammount of money he has already made and then has to sell facebook for only $500 Million. I would imagine at this point he only has to work as hard as he wants to on facebook. Whoever he is negotiating with is richer than him so either way the money is not going to people who really need it. My guess is that someone with a mind like his will use the money for another business venture, in which case the Money could matter. I doubt he will just buy a private jet and fly around getting high all day or something. [/ QUOTE ] i USED to be a dot.com millionaire? *EDIT didn't see the $500M part |

Update to this story: Facebook founders put $2bn price on website http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=512423 [/ QUOTE ] Wow do these guys look smart now. News Corp also seems to have made an amazing investment in MySpace. Rumors of Yahoo! offering $12bn in stock to buy MySpace. Analysts are pegging the value above $10bn (remember that Tom and Co. sold MySpace for $580mm). Edit Misread, News Corp asked for $12bn in stock, Yahoo! didn't offer that. Still, MySpace is being valued at $10bn+. Assuming that MySpace is on its way to being replaced by Facebook as the industry leader, Facebook might have made 10x by turning down this offer. Also sucks to anyone who though $2bn was way too much for Facebook just a year ago (basically everyone). |

Re: Facebook turns down $750M acquisition offer
I don't understand turning down $750MM, that's way more than you could possibly spend in a lifetime.
And if I were a 20-year-old billionaire, I think I'd have closer to 500 girlfriends than 1. |

[/ QUOTE ] Hi Drew, Remember that Facebook has given stock to all of its employees and executives, as well as accepting a number of venture capital investments. I don't know what % of the company Zuckerberg owns, but the decision (to not sell) is based off plenty of inputs besides his own. As far as having 500 girlfriends? I think you're right. |

Re: Facebook turns down $750M acquisition offer
Call me a misanthrope, but I'm pretty sure I'd be a lot closer to having zero girlfriends than 500. Any close relationships I'd have would be formed before she knew about my wealth/work. Otherwise, I'd be paranoid about her being basically a whore.
