[ QUOTE ]
Don't expect any type of professionalism from most of the dealers. There are three (serioulsy only three) good dealers on swing shift and unless they are your dealers expect to be "nice handed" and dealers will push the action as much as they can.

[/ QUOTE ]

I play at Harrah's on occasion with some friends that work at the Borgata, and the dealers aren't anywhere near as bad as this makes out.

Second, you see the "nice hand" thing everywhere, and frankly lot of players do simply forget to toke after a hand. I don't feel comfortable with it myself so I don't, but it's clearly costs me quite a bit in tokes.

It's the little things that Harrah's dealers don't do that annoy me - players talking about the hand while it's going on for one thing. One of the dealers cuts the cards and exposes half the deck every time (kind of hard to explain without a picture - if you play there long enough you would see her do it). A lot of the dealers there don't pay attention and are way too busy BSing with the table. Bottom line, if you are at Harrah's and your dealers name isn't Bruce, Joe, Chuck, or Chris - pay extra attention to what's going on.

I went up to AC last December for the WSOPCE at Harrah's. What schwerd2 said is correct, the cash games are very limited throughout the afternoon because they use about half the poker room as overflow for the tournament area in the ballroom upstairs. This will especially be the case on Saturday, December 8, the date of the first $300 tournament on the schedule.

Last year they seemed to restrict the overflow tables to the area of the room where limit games are primarily spread. So a $1/2 game was pretty much always available.

Once the tournament overflow tables broke and more tables aand dealers became available, there was plenty of $1/2 action and a table or two of $2/5. Friday and Saturday nights last year they also got a $5/10 game going, but I don't think it got spread on Sunday or Monday.

thx e1. Sounds like my agenda is as follows....

7am Wake up. Ask wife for pre-shower sexy time (request denied).

10am Arrive at Harrahs. Try to check into room early (Harrahs staff denies request).

12n Begin play in the 300+40.

~4pm~ Go up to room while on short break that wife checked us into and ask for quickie sexy time (request denied).

~8pm~ Dinner break with wife. Listen to her drone on about how boring it is to be in a casino by yourself and how she should have just stayed home with the kids. Secretly wish she had done so. Do not bother asking for sexy time before going back to tourney.

10pm-12m Bust out of tourney. Head up to room where wife is watching chic TV shows and grading test papers from her retarded students. Ask for sexy time in the shower before heading down to play cash for 'a little while'.

12:10am Go on list for one of the crappy 2/5 games. Ask every person who speaks English if they would play 5/10 if a list started.

10am Say good morning to wife. Fake apologize for not coming up to room. Add insult to injury by telling her what she already knows, that she has to drive home because I have been awake for 30 hours.

REST OF DAY UNREMARKABLE

12m Go to bed. Ask wife for sexy time (request denied).

You know, I just realized that it is entirely possible that I have just written an accurate TR for somewhere I'm not going for another nine days. I may have just solved the time travel puzzle!!!

Dudemand -- three of the four dealers you mentioned were the people I had in mind when I wrote my post.

People talk on the phone throughout the game, people talking about the hand, people rabbit hunting, dealers watching games on t.v. rather than watching the game. It's the stuff like that.

For the record, 2/5 is raked and not timed at Harrahs, which may interest some of you.

They get three 1-5 stud games every day at Harrah's. I can't imagine that someone could play there and not see it go unless you only go there after midnight.

[/ QUOTE ] I have only been there like 5 times in 3 years, usually late evening. I never saw it running, but I was not really looking for it either.
[ QUOTE ]
Harrah's Marina? When was the last time you have been there?

[/ QUOTE ]
Three months ago. :-P I call it Harrah's Marina, not to confuse others with Harrah's the casino vs. Harrah's the company. One time, I confused someone by saying I was going to Harrah's in Atlantic City - he said which one. I said the one in AC. He said, well there is 4 there. Confused me for a second before I finally got what he was getting at.
[ QUOTE ]
You talking about the dailys? Did they change the structure?

[/ QUOTE ]
I played in one 5-6 months ago, and we used a structure that is similar to what the one at Showboat is. Maybe they were experimenting? Is the structure now similar to Showboat, expect there is no 50/100 and you start at 100/200?

Showboat starts at 25-50. I played Harrahs last March, and it was horrible (100-200 start). I seriously doubt they did any "experimenting" to try to make it better. If they did, it's impossible for it to have failed

Wrong, Showboat starts at 50/100.

Showboat / Harrahs:
50/100 100/200
100/200 200/400
200/400 300/600
300/600 400/800

Break Break

400/800 500/1000
600/1200 1000/2000
800/1600 1500/3000
1000/2000 2000/4000

Break Break

1500/3000 3000/6000
2000/4000 4000/8000
3000/6000 5000/10000
4000/8000 ??

I'm not positive on the later levels in the Harrah's tournament but you can see how much better the structure is at Showboat.
