[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] yes, I concur. The car chase scene in the matrix was an awesome scene in general, but from the pure standpoint of a car chase scene...it wasnt imo...because it didnt really happen. [/ QUOTE ] Did they have cars in the 70s? Are we forgeting that its a movie?????? [/ QUOTE ] Are we forgetting that the car chase scenes from the classic 70s movies actually happened, and were caught on film? How can you not see the difference? [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Best Car Chase Scenes
The thing that made The French Connection so great is that it was filmed without any permits. They put cameras in the cars and in various spots in NY and filmed the scene. The other cars in the chase weren't driven by stunt drivers. They were everyday people just doing their normal driving without knowing there was a movie been made.
My choice.....any episode of Chips. How many times can cars jump over each other flipping 100 times in mid air while landing on another car and blow up without anyone getting hurt? |

[/ QUOTE ] Are we forgeting that its a movie?????? [/ QUOTE ] The Matrix scene is great, yes. But there is almost nothing in it that's not actors working in fromt of a green screen. The camera is NOT actually sweeping and diving underneath trucks and around cars, you know? Car scenes are impressive because they are filmed with stuntmen risking their lives. That's the difference. |

Re: Best Car Chase Scenes
Besides the one mentioned, the last half of Tarantino's flick in Grindhouse is damn good. All one long car chase.

Re: Best Car Chase Scenes
The best car chase scene was in "The Seven-Ups".
The best car chase scenes was "Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry" because of the Impala (which I don't think was actually chased anywhere but if you want to know what great American Iron sounds like, that's your car). |

Re: Best Car Chase Scenes
Just saw Bullitt again a couple weeks ago and the chase is terrific.
Nobody has mentioned a favorite of mine in Against All Odds-Porsche v. Ferrari on Sunset Blvd! |
