People in England take the ferry to France all the time to go on booze cruises.

Have you ever gone into the forest and sat completely silently for an hour or more?

I find it really interesting

[/ QUOTE ]
Kinda, but I was usually on acid.

Yeah, while I do think your taste needs work, it is not hopeless by any means. I've gotten people who've displayed much less potential into much better music

[/ QUOTE ]
This is so wrong. Nobody has better taste than anyone else, that's the essence of taste. If he wants to listen to stuff you don't like, that's up to him isn't it?

[/ QUOTE ]
No, taste isn't subjective. That's why some art is classic and has stood the test of time for hundreds of years, and other art is disposable garbage.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, the stuff that has stood the test of time is the equivalent to Michael Jackson while nobody today will ever know or see the 16th century equivalent of the Replacements.

Taste has usually been dictated by what the majority (or the elite) likes. With the Interent, that may change things, but it doesn't help when looking back over time.

(I understand your point, but thought I should at least mention that there is some incongruency (if that's a word) in your argument.)

For clarity's sake:

In case you guys didn't gather, there is only one place you can buy alcohol in Sweden - Systembolaget. This state owned monopoly has been an institution in Sweden for years and thus some Swedes have strong feelings about it. Myself being an American, I do not. I simply look at it as the Liquor Store, nothing more, nothing less.

The prices are high, due to the high alcohol tax here (one Carsberg or Heineken is just under $2 these days due to the weak dollar), but the selection is very good. It's opening hours can be bit of a hassle (roughly Mon - Sat 10-6), but otherwise it works well. I thought it was great that they ordered in Fat Tire for me, so I really don't have any complaints.

Beer out at the pub though is expensive. Though it doesn't vary that much. You will often be paying $7 - $8 a beer, regardless if you order the cheapest [censored] or for example, a Guiness. So the silver lining is that it's definitely worth it to always order good beer here.

Does anyone know how to clear a really bad ass clogged sink? The water has been standing for about 16 hours now and simply isn't going down at all ... in the past I've tried one of those shot of air things ( on a different, unrelated sink ) and that thing didn't do much good ...

Do I just get some Drano and dump it in & let it sit, hoping it eventually seeps down & fixes the issue? Or is there something else, short of calling a plumber ...

I think it's all great, but the best bit is from Trondheim northward.

Haha, I remember someone making a thread wherein he took a ferry from Finland to Estonia just to buy cheap alcohol and take it back. Apparently a lot of people do this.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, Fins and Swedes do this all the time. But the buying of the tax free booze on the boat is just a cover, they really do this because these cruises are really just a big meat market, and everyone is there to act like degenerates.
