Caesars Palace LV is starting up a BBJ in January
Just a shoutout to the B&M'ers who like to know these things.
I found out that CP LV is starting up a Bad Beat Jackpot, and it will kick off sometime in January. They are already installing the boxes/slots into the tables. Me no likey. |

At least the players still blow... But yeah, that sucks, and knowing Harrahs, you'll prolly have to lose w/ a J high str8flush to qualify...

Your favorite room the venetian had a BBJ...seems like a good idea in generating traffic also, its bad that when I look at the letters BBJ I instantly think bareback blow-job...I spend way too much time on craigslist. |

Your favorite room the venetian had a BBJ...seems like a good idea in generating traffic [/ QUOTE ] No comparison. Venetians was HOUSE funded (no additional rake/drop) and was a promotion. Caesars will be player funded, taking an additional $1 rake from every pot (usually $10-$20 minimum). Also, there is no requirement that 100% of the money goes back to the players. Some casinos retain as much as 15% for "administrative costs". To boot, when the BBJ is paid out, it will be taxed, so even less of the $1 taken from each pot will be returned to the players. This is why none of the best rooms in Vegas has a regular BBJ or high hand jackpot (i.e. Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian, MGM Grand). |

I will not be going to play at Caesars for the BBJ, but going to caesars to play b/c it will attract your average player from xxx city who is more comfortable playing a game with a bbj and who isn't privy to the info that you are. |

Hey now, a Stern Fan! I agree with above posters who say this is not what the "top" poker rooms need, and this is not a good thing for Ceaser's.

I've always figured they could not keep anything for admin costs because then they'd be violating the max rake set by the Nevada Gaming Commission. Long as they are returning 100% of the money to the players, it seems kosher. If they are not, write a letter to the GC asking why they're allowed to overrake. And is this to be a BBJ or High Hand Jackpot? Harrah's and Bally's and Rio have HHJ's. I look at BBJ's as a tax on the tourists... tourists show up and play regardless of the BBJ value, while the locals can shop around and play in a room only after the BBJ gets large. And BBJ's cause large influxes of non-regular players when the BBJ is giant, and then the room empties once it hits. HHJ's I figure I have a mostly equal opportunity to hit, and ultimately my share of the dropped money will come back to me. And nobody (well...few people) pick a room to play in based on how well funded the HHJ buckets are. So I'm ok with most HHJ's. |

Oh well, heard CP had a good poker room until the Mirage opened in '89. Wait - the Mirage still has a good poker room. In fact, thats how to find a good poker room at CP - go next door either direction. |
