LHE - How many starting hands do you play?
Hi,
I only seem to be playing 10% or less of my starting hands. I play my starting hands according to the text books but I don't think I'm getting enough action to maximize my winnings, trouble is when I loosen up I lose money. Should I be playing more hands on average or is 10% OK? What percentage of hands should a good player be playing? |

Mid to upper teens for full ring. [/ QUOTE ] Keep in mind this is over a large sample size. You can run very hot or cold over the short term, and yes even 10% can be very HIGH depending on your cards. |

I don't think I'm getting enough action to maximize my winnings [/ QUOTE ] What stakes? I can categorically say that at B&M up to $4/8 or probably higher, you WILL get action, even if you fold everything except aces. (Not that you should, just saying.) Been a while since I've played much online LHE below .25/.50, lowest that Full Tilt offers, but I'd be surprised if people are respecting your PFR that much. If so, raise occasionally with suited connectors, random suited face cards, etc. But don't go crazy with it. You're doing this because you believe you'll take down the blinds without a fight. But you want to do it with a hand that will have some value if you get called, since you might as well pick decent hands to bluff on. |
