Default Mucked hand asks to be seen, is it live?

So i had a straight draw at the commerce $100 NL. I went all in on the flop and get called by 1 person. I miss and muck my cards, the table asked to see both hands so the dealer flips our cards over and my opponent had the same hand as i did (whoops. is my hand live since it was flipped over?

if the dealer didnt touch the cards to the muck then your hand is live. any mucked hand is supposed to touch the muck pile. and yes anyone can ask to see a called hand. but asking to see a called hand is only for reasons to try and prevent collusion, not to try and gain information

if it landed in the muck, i'm pretty sure it's dead.

if it just landed near the dealer, the dealer is supposed to declare it dead before flipping it over, not sure on the ruling if he just shows it without declaring it dead. did your cards hit the muck, or just somewhere near the board cards?

Generally, if the winner of the hand asks to see it, the cards are live and can take the pot if it's the best hand. If another player in the game asks to see the hand, they generally are not live and have no claim to the pot (the dealer usually symbolically "taps them dead" into the muck before exposing them).

[/ QUOTE ] This is 100% correct.

Jeff is, as usual, correct.

I'd be careful before relying on this. I feel that intention to muck is as good as a muck, but others feel the muck pile is a mystical fairyland. Find out how the house feels about it before counting on it.

Also never, ever fold your hand before seeing a hand that beats it. I love people like the OP.

Hand is dead unless presumed winner asks to see it - then it is live.
